Adekunmi Shola Adenipebi is an accomplished entrepreneur and visionary in the e-sports and gaming industry. He is the founder of Naija Game Evo, now known as Game Evolution, an innovative e-sports event organizing and consultancy firm. He is also the managing director of E-Planet, a premier gaming and entertainment lounge located in Akoka, Lagos.
Kunmi's passion for gaming began in his secondary school years at St. Finbarr's College, Akoka, where he started organizing small gaming gatherings. This passion evolved through his studies in Sociology at Kogi State University, where he saw the potential to shift perceptions of gaming from a mere leisure activity to a legitimate and thriving sector. In an era when video gaming was often associated with children or idleness, Kunmi sought to change this narrative by establishing game houses and collaborating with other gaming enthusiasts across Nigeria.
In 2007, Kunmi founded Naija Game Evo and organized its first major gaming tournament. Although the event had limited success, it laid the foundation for future growth. Kunmi spent the next few years refining his approach and researching the gaming landscape in Nigeria. His breakthrough came in 2012 when he partnered with Sporedust Media to launch the "Naija Game Evo Roadshow," a nationwide gaming tour culminating in a grand tournament at Silverbird Galleria in Lagos.
This event marked a significant turning point in the Nigerian gaming scene, highlighting gaming as a legitimate, competitive, and entertaining activity.
In 2014, Kunmi expanded his footprint by opening E-Planet, which has since become the largest gaming hub in Lagos, regularly hosting gaming tournaments and attracting a growing community of enthusiasts. He is also the executive producer of The Game Evo Show, a popular TV show that covers gaming trends, industry insights, and the local gaming scene.
As the driving force behind numerous major events such as MTN Techplus (2015-2019), WAGE (2014, 2016), and Comic Con (2014-2019), Kunmi's expertise extends beyond event organization to consultancy for e-sports organizations. In 2021, he co-founded Gamr Africa and served as its Chief Operating Officer. By 2024, he retired to focus more on building his dream brand, Game Evolution.
